Frank Herbert was a master of storytelling while providing realistic philosophy that's relatable to us. His first book Dune was meant to showcase a protagonist in Paul but warn about leaders, particularly messiahs and how they develop too much power for their own good and how it leads to fanaticism and how that tends to grow out of control to cause too much pain, suffering, etc. People who read the first book and saw first movie mostly did NOT get that message, hence why he wrote the 2nd book, Dune: Messiah to clarify that warning more.

I realize I’m very late to this party, I wanted to say that I love your drive and enthusiasm. Your ideas are great and well planned. The only criticism I’d give would be one thing you forgot that was crucial to Star Wars being as awesome and engrossing as it was, and that’s the fact that they didn’t explain how EVERYTHING works. The Force, lightsabers, hyperdrives, space dogfights, etc. We knew they existed and the basic effects they could have, but we didn’t know all the intricate details of how and why they worked. That mystery is part of what we loved about Star Wars growing up (for me in the 80s) even if we didn’t realize it. IMHO, you’re putting too much thought into how your system of “magic” works and explaining much more than you should. Again, just my opinion. I’m still digging your idea!

In terms of doing something new, beefcake is nothing new in the movies. Beefcake being oggled by women is nothing new. However, if beefcake is going to be on display, then you want top sirloin, not hamburger. Some of the actors are good (Lee Jung-Jae, Manny Jacinto), but the writing is not. You can get good moments when the actors can carry the show, but they can't save the episode from writers who don't care about character motivations or the abilities and constraints the characters have when trying to act on those vague and ever-changing motivations.

The cross-guard plot-hole could be easily fixed with a couple of lines. Example: Person 1: Why don't more light sabers have cross-guards? Person 2: Do you have any idea how difficult it is to split a light-saber beam and maintain control over it? This isn't perfect, but it's far better than what the sequels have.

Look at the writing quality of the original trilogy. It was terrible from the start.

My list of unresolved issues...1. radio/transmissions: In the first episode Indarra has a handheld communicator and at the beginning of the fight signals for help that she is fighting an unknown force user(no one comes to help, is she broadcasting to all Jedi or all the way to Coruscant?, at the least every Jedi on the show should have one and when the fight began at least one of them could have gotten out a message) 2. light speed travel: The time to travel between planets is not consistent. (after the fight Sol is still on the ship with Mae on kafor? But Quimir had already gotten to his ship and made it to his unknown planet , moved Osha's body, gotten a meal going, changed clothes) AND (as Sol is talking to Mae they say things like 5 minuites as soon as the Jedi get the message they are ready to go in 20 minutes. so they must have been able to hyperspace there in around 5 minutes? from Coruscant to the outer rim?) Last point Smilo's power/armor: During the fight they kept saying he was in their heads, but he was wearing a helmet that stops the Jedi from reading his thoughts? so it only blocks the force from getting in not from him using his powers out? Does Cortosis both short circuit light sabers and block the force? How do blaster bolts affect it? he is not cover head to toe in the stuff so he is still very much exposed. Plus he was going around without his armor on even when the Jedi caught him with the poison an they could not read his intentions then with no helmet to block their Jedi powers? I'm stopping here but there is so much more.
